Practice Makes...a Good Hunter

SHOOT! SHOOT! SHOOT!

The more comfortable you are with your firearm, your chances of killing an elk more than double.  There is nothing more frustrating for a guide when a hunter show’s up and we are shooting in and I ask my hunter where there gun was shooting before they came out and their reply is I’ve never shot this gun.  Now we go on to show him where the safety is and the hole bit.  The people that shoot the most and are comfortable out to 400yds highly increase their chances of killing an elk.

There are so many reasons to get out and shoot your gun.  Here are a few examples that might motivate you to get out and shoot:

  • Increases your probability on harvesting an elk
  • Allows you an opportunity to shoot from different positions and find the most stable for      you off the bench.
  • It’s fun as hell
  • It’ therapeutic
  • Gets you away from everyday life and into the hunt mode
  • Makes you a better marksmen
