The 2014 Season Around the Corner

The 2014 Season Around the Corner

Sorry about not being better about adding my monthly blog.  It has definitely been a few months.  So I am going to recap on June, July and August all in one blog.  This is my busy time of the year taking care of the ranch and moving cattle around.  Most of the elk have moved to the higher country during the summer months we had some elk calving on us but the majority of the elk moved to the high country. We have had a good start to the year and the climate seems to be back to normal from the last few years.  Improvements on the ranch have been minimal other than the regular upkeep of fences and weed spraying.  An additional project we've been working on is road maintenance.  Last hunting season killed our roads so that was a must.  I have worked on all Cow Creek roads and have worked on the road going down Trail Gulch, which is still a steep bastard but was able to fix all the hairy spots. Fishing has been good, but been so busy I was only able to fish a few days but as usual it was exceptional. No berries this year and there have been a lot of bears killing livestock so the government trapper and hunter have stepped in and killed about forty bears through out the Meeker area. Fall is just around the corner and it will be hunting season before we know it.
