What’s New For 2017

In the past we’ve hunted around 18 hunters per year on our ranch equivalent to 15 hunt days. Times are changing and it’s getting harder and harder to find five to six friends that know each other that can sync up to go hunting each year. Last year we had 20 hunters and used 24 hunt days, 9 more than the normal hunt days. Basically it was all done in a way that was accommodating for small groups of hunters. Which can work in certain scenarios but is not always beneficial to the hunters, the guides, and the hunt itself. I believe in conservation, and want to be successful on all of our hunts. This philosophy in part has led us to make the following changes:

For 2017 we have restructured our rates and packages to accommodate both our clients that can fill a full group for our elk hunts, and clients that want to come by themselves with a friend. The hunting cabin is such a great place in its authenticity and history. The cabin is a summer home for my family and a number of hunters in the fall. We want your hunts with Wapiti Outfitters to be successful and enjoyable. The cabin can sleep six but can get a little tight at times so it works great for groups of people that know each other. The property hunts five to six guys really well so we like having the larger groups. We realize that it can be a challenge to put those big groups together and will not inconvenience you by putting six strangers in the cabin any longer, but there is enough personal space for up to four hunters in a mixed group if all food and amenities are taken care of.

Pulling the trigger last seconds, but the hunt, the sport is the experience that lasts. We want our clients to have a good time EVEN if they don’t harvest an animal. It doesn’t matter if we have six hunters or two hunters we use the same amount of guides and equipment to get you your trophy. The new rates below are for rifle hunts only and they are based off of the number of clients as a group, and the services provided.

Deer and Bear Hunts

We’ve had a lot of interest in the past for bear and deer hunts. We have quality bears and mule deer in the area but not an overabundance of them on our property. This past season we didn’t see as many bears as we have in the past but we probably could have harvested four different black bears that weighed 350 plus pounds. As for the mule deer taken on the property we’ll probably only want to take two to three bucks off per year. Each species of animal we want to take will be a mature animal. We are wanting to shoot four year old deer or older and bears 350 plus pounds. Below there is an initial payment for the hunt. This cost is specific to coming on a big game hunt with Wapiti Outfitters no matter what species you are hunting for.
